Lucinda Booher
PROFILE
As a child my grandmother taught me to paint and draw, as she was a professional watercolorist, also my mother taught me how to sew. That, along with 9 years of sewing in 4-H, developed my sewing ability. I studied Art and Music in high school and college, but I had no desire to teach or be a starving artist, so I quit college. After several years working various jobs, I was introduced to Interior Design. After all the years of working with colors, fabrics and textures interior design made sense to me.
In 1991 I founded Lucinda’s Interiors
While still working at an office job, I started designing and sewing draperies. Four years later I was able to go full time as Lucinda’s Interiors. I quickly learned that sewing for other people was no fun. Plus, there were other people who were better and faster at drapery construction, so I quickly gave that over to them. Business grew and a few years later I incorporated.
Over the years I specialized in Window Treatment Design & color theory
Early on I would measure, design, and install all my window treatment orders. But I always loved the design aspect of my business. Later in business I was able to just focus my business on Design only.
In 2021 I was able to retire
In 2020 I was blessed to marry a wonderful, color-blind, man who said I could retire. After moving to northeast Indiana, I took him up on his offer. I sold my home, sold my business and I was able to start painting, like I had always wished I could.
Suddenly, I need to look at color in a whole new way
All my training in Color Theory as an Interior Designer, seemed to be different now. As a designer, warm and cool colors were looked at differently. I have learned to look at the color wheel in a whole new way. And I would like to share what I’ve learned with you.
