Karen Bixler

Although I have had little formal art training, I’ve had help along the way: two college drawing courses, a few workshops, and valuable input from fellow artists. Because I worked full-time for 45 years, painting time was sporadic.

I discovered acrylics in the early ‘70s and never looked back. The ability to work in layers, washes, heavy textures – all in a few hours – still holds its appeal.

Until I retired, I used my own reference photos as the basis for studio paintings. Now I also enjoy plein air painting and sketching.

I am a signature member of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild and enjoy entering area exhibits.

Over the years I have sold work at galleries in Columbia City, North Webster, Fort Wayne, and most recently Expressions Gallery in Auburn. Now I am excited to be represented by Auburn Art Gallery!
